Cheyenne, WY — There was a serious explosion outside Cheyenne last week that claimed the life of a worker at the Tri-State Oil Reclaimers building. This happened last Thursday (October 30, 2014) and the victim was later identified as Tri-State employee Elmer Loman.
Police said that Loman died last week after an oil tank exploded at the Tri-State facility, which is just west of Cheyenne.
It’s not clear yet how the explosion happened, but it’s under investigation by the Wyoming OSHA office. Loman was apparently working on a catwalk that was hanging over a large oil tank used for storage.
Loman was in the process of welding the catwalk when an accident happened and the tank below him ignited and exploded. Loman was killed in the accident while at least one other employee, Michael Pierce, was injured and taken to a hospital for slight burns.
More investigation will be released later as various investigations wrap up.
