San Antonio, TX — There was a major four-car accident involving a wrong-way driver this past Monday, which seriously injured one of the drivers. Police haven’t released any names or identities, but confirmed that the wrong-way driver was an elderly man in a red pickup truck.
This happened at about 11:00 a.m. on Monday morning, October 27, 2014. The elderly man in the red truck driving along U.S. 87 that morning, headed east in the westbound lanes, which caused several drivers to swerved out of the way.
However, another pickup truck didn’t see the wrong-way driver in time and collided head-on with him. That driver, the one driving the correct direction on U.S. 87, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
At least two other vehicles were involved in this wreck, but police didn’t provide any other details other than to confirm that those injuries were minor.
The elderly wrong-way driver also suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital to be treated. It’s not clear why he was driving the wrong way that morning.
