Commentary:
Any kind of plane crashes, big or small, are situations where an independent investigation is very important. The agency that handles every plane crash investigation in the nation is the NTSB, and it usually takes a very, very long time to arrive at answers, not because of incompetence, but because of a massive backlog in cases. Sometimes a year or a year and a half can fall off the calendar during an NTSB investigation. This length of time can be cut significantly shorter by third party investigators with no such backlog. With any kind of accident, people need answers, and having your own investigators do the legwork is going to be much, much faster than relying on a government agency. In addition to getting people answers, it also buys them a significant amount of time to make a decision should a liability claim be necessary – time that would have otherwise elapsed with an NTSB investigation.
