Commentary:
In my years of experience handling accident cases with large vehicles and motorcycles, I’ve found one common thread that runs between the majority of them: visibility. Now, no part of me thinks that the driver of the truck in this accident intended to cause this accident, but if he didn’t do it intentionally, he probably did it carelessly. Motorcycles and compact cars are difficult to see from trucks, so they’re typically built with a variety of mirrors to assist them. Now, if the truck driver didn’t see the motorcyclist, it would make sense that he didn’t know he hit him after the accident. Even though this wasn’t done intentionally, should careless driving with a massive dump truck ever be rewarded with something like this being swept under the rug, or does the trucking company need to face some consequences for the actions of their driver?
