Winnebago County, WI — A woman was hospitalized after crashing into a semi-truck that was traveling in the wrong direction on Highway 10 in Winnebago County, Wisconsin, on Wednesday, October 22, 2014.
Reports say the driver of a semi-truck mistakenly took an off-ramp to get onto Highway 10 instead of an on-ramp. Reports go on to say that the driver tried fixing his mistake and was then hit by a car.
The driver of the car had to be airlifted to a local hospital. Reports say her injuries aren’t life-threatening. Police have issued the driver of the semi two citations for the accident.

Commentary
Drivers make mistakes all the time. Sometimes those mistakes have tragic consequences, but they happen. But usually, a simple mistake isn’t going to take onto the wrong side of the highway. Something like that takes some effort. I have to ask myself, is it possible the driver just wasn’t paying attention to the road? If not, why not? Luckily, this accident could have turned out to be much worse than it was. Still, after a mistake like this, I have to imagine that the driver along with the trucking company he works for are going to be facing some very tough questions. And rightfully so. Again, this accident wasn’t as bad as it could have been. The driver may not be so lucky next time.
