Commentary
In an accident like this, it seems pretty obvious where the blames lies. Still, hurdles will pop up that must be overcome before reaching a fair and just settlement. The bus involved in the accident belongs to the city, and typically, filing suit against a municipally-owned vehicle is very difficult. Municipally-owned vehicle are afforded a lot of protection by sovereign immunity, which is really just a fancy way of saying that they’re difficult to sue. Luckily, this accident wasn’t nearly as bad as it could have been. So hopefully the bus company will be able to stnd up and make things right with the victims, because they’re obviously liable for the injuries they suffered.
