Phoenix, AZ — Four people suffered injuries that ranged from serious to critical following an accident believe may have been caused by alcohol use in Phoenix, Arizona, on Friday, October 17, 2014. The accident took place on Interstate 10, about a mile west of the Deck Park Tunnel.
Police say the woman responsible for the accident was traveling west in the east lanes of the interstate and hit an oncoming car and driving through the tunnel. Three other cars on the road then hit debris from the crash, as well as the first two vehicles.
Four people were taken to Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center for their injuries. Their names were not given.
Police said they’re currently investigating to see whether or not the driver was intoxicated when the accident happened, a process that can take weeks or longer to complete.
