Jason Halcrow injured in motorcycle accident on Dallas North Tollway

UPDATE!!!

Despite the rumors
Jason Halcrow, the injured rider spoken of below, did not lose his life in this accident. He sustained major injuries including losing a good portion of tissue from his back side as well as losing a leg and suffering a broken arm.

He is awake and communicating with his family and doctors are optimistic that he will make it. Mr. Halcrow is a 33-year-old father of five and was recently married.

A note from E. Michael Grossman:

My law firm has represented many numerous motorcycle accident victims and the resounding theme is that motorcycle accidents are very likely to end in disaster. I am glad to hear that Mr. Halcrow is doing better than originally thought. Make no mistake about it, he will have a long road ahead of him but it sounds like he has a very loving and supportive family and in these kinds of accidents that is a crucial element in recovery. I wish Mr. Halcrow and his family the best.

the story as it was originally posted:

On May 9, 2008 a motorcycle accident occurred on the Dallas North Tollway near the Parker Rd. exit during the morning commute. The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike during the accident. The motorcycle itself slid down the roadway for nearly a quarter miles before coming to a rest. the rider was transported to Baylor Hospital by helicopter. His condition is not yet known.

I may not have seen the actual accident, but I saw the guy on his bike just before it occurred - I could tell you down to his shoes what he was wearing. I also saw the body - the leg in the right lane and the rest of his body on the other side of the guard rail - and his bike cut in two - I basically drove up within seconds after it happened. I would like to know if he survived? The body was so stiff, that I am not sure if he was in shock or if he died. Do you know how to find out? If so, I would like to know. Thanks,

Beverly accurately described everything saw this too. Thanks for confirming as I started to doubt what I saw since I haven't found anything in the news. I just can't believe this was not news worthy. After seeing what I saw – I couldn't stop thinking about him. My heart goes out to his family and everyone involved.

I came up on the accident just after is happened as well. It has scarred my mind with images of what I saw. I have been trying to find something on the internet about the details of the accident and how it happened. Can someone confirm that he did die? When I came up on it his body was on the other side of guard rail but his leg was on the shoulder. thanks

I, too, saw this accident right after it occured. I cannot quit thinking about this terrible tragedy and have scanned the newspaper and listened to the news in an effort to find out what happened to this man. I immediately begin to pray for him when I saw his severed leg in the middle of the lane. I also saw his body on the other side of the guard rail. I would like to know what happened to him. My thought and prayers go out to him and to his family.

He did not die at the scene. Myfoxdfw.com has the story. He is in critical but stable condition. He lost his other leg as well and has had numerous surgeries. He woke up for a few minutes on Wednesday.
