Mayfield, KY — There was an accident between a log truck and a car on the north side of Mayfield this past weekend, police said. 30-year old Heather Whitney was injured last Thursday afternoon (October 9, 2014) after her car was in a head-on wreck with a log truck along Highway 121.
This happened at about 4:15 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. Whitney was driving a Saturn Vue east along Highway 121 when she lost control and swerved across into the northbound lanes. There, her Saturn crashed head-on into a log truck, which left her with moderate to serious injuries.
At the last update, Whitney had been flown tow a hospital via medical helicopter, and was in stable condition there. Also in Whitney’s car was an infant child, but the baby was not harmed by the accident.
The log truck’s driver, Sammy Smith, was not badly injured. Police said they’re not sure why Whitney lost control of her car that afternoon, but they’re looking into this further. She is from Hardin, they said.
