Brentwood, NY — A young man was injured early Friday morning (October 10, 2014) after he was hit by a suspected drunk driver along Suffolk Avenue. Police said that Mark Pamphile, 22, was in critical condition after he was hit by Alejandro Diaz’ pickup truck at about 3:00 a.m.
This happened along Suffolk Avenue, near Bergen Street. Pamphile was walking along the sidewalk early Friday morning while Diaz was driving his pickup truck along Suffolk Avenue. For unknown reasons, Diaz swerved his truck off the road and onto the sidewalk, where he struck Pamphile.
After the accident, Diaz ran away, but was caught a short distance later by police. He has since been charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Serious Injury. Pamphile, at the last update, was at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was in critical condition.
