SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Ankitaben Parikh was identified as the woman that was seriously hurt in a tractor-trailer accident in South Brusnwick, New Jersey on Friday, September 19th, 2014. The report from The South Brusnwick Post said the accident happened around 8:30 Friday morning.

32-year-old Ankitaben Parikh was injured when she was hit by a tractor-trailer. Sources say the accident happened when Parikh was walking from her car in the parking lot of Taro Pharmaceutical on Commerce Drive. At the same time, a truck driver had stopped for directions in the parking lot. When Parikh walked in front of the truck, the truck began driving off. She was struck and partially run over.

Parikh was taken to a nearby hospital where she remained in serious condition.

The driver of the truck was identified as Robert Smith.

The New Jersey State Police is still investigating the accident.

Commentary:

I see in the news that the accident happened around 8:30 in the morning at a workplace, which makes me wonder why the trucker was not looking out for pedestrian traffic before he hit the gas. Sure there may be blind spots on a big truck like this, but these trucks are outfitted with mirrors and sometimes assisting cameras, and if he hit this woman, he probably didn’t check them. If the accident happened on a roadway, we may be having a different conversation altogether, but the fact that the accident happened in a parking lot really removes any traces of doubt that I have that the driver was responsible for looking where he was going, and failed in his duty.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
