7 taken to hospital in Borger factory explosion
On April 21, 2008 an explosion at the Sid Richardson Carbon Plant in Borger, Tx. sent 7 employees to the hospital. Neighbors in the surrounding area said they could feel the ground shake as the explosion occurred. Rescue workers determined that no volatile chemicals or contaminants were released during the explosion.
A note from E. Michael Grossman:
I hope this incident will serve as a wakeup call for the Sid Richardson Carbon Plant and hopefully they will take extra precaution and acknowledge just how close they came to an incident like the BP Refinery explosion, the Alon Refinery explosion,. or the oilfield explosion that happened only a few days ago. Unfortunately, many companies don't take safety seriously until a workplace accident or, even worse, a wrongful death occurs.
