Many, LA — There was a fatal accident between a log truck and a pickup truck that claimed the life of a Pleasant Hill man last week in Many. Police said that Richard Remedies, 48, was killed just outside of Many after his Dodge pickup truck was in a wreck with an 18-wheeler on Highway 171.
The accident happened early Wednesday morning, September 17, 2014. Remedies was driving his truck along Highway 175 when he came to the intersection with Highway 171. Apparently failing to yield to a stop sign, Remedies drove across Highway 171, where he was struck by a passing log truck.
The accident caused the log truck’s tires to go over the hood of Remedies’ pickup truck, sending him off the roadway and down an embankment. Remedies’ pickup truck rolled over multiple times and caught fire, ejecting and killing Remedies at the scene.
The truck driver, who wasn’t named, was not harmed in this wreck. The log truck was owned by Scott Gill, who is from Evans, but it’s not clear if he was the one driving it at the time.
