Single-Vehicle Accident in Fort Worth, TX, Kills One, Injures One on Highway 360

Fort Worth, TX — One person was killed and another was injured in an accident in Fort Worth, Texas, on Friday, September 19, 2014. The accident occurred on the ramp from southbound Highway 360 to eastbound Highway 183 early in the morning.

The driver of a Chrysler sedan lost control of his vehicle when and drove up an embankment, crashing into a bridge which sheared the vehicle’s roof off. As the car came down it collided with a Toyota sedan. While the driver of the Toyota wasn’t responsible for the accident, police took the driver into custody on suspicion of drunk driving.

A passenger sitting in the backseat of the Chrysler was killed, while emergency workers took the driver to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas in critical condition.

Police are still trying to figure out if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Commentary

After reading about this accident in the news, I’m still left asking about what happened here. The Chrysler that crashed into the bridge also crashed into a Toyota. Was that before or after the collision with the bridge? Police ended up taking the driver of the Toyota into custody because they thought he may have been driving while intoxicated. Is it possible that alcohol was involved in this accident, too? So far, police haven’t said. But given the severity of the crash and the time at which it happened, I’d say it’s a possibility that at least deserves a second look.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
