Commentary
This sounds like an on-the-job accident. Typically, in these cases, these sorts of injuries will be covered by an employer’s workers’ comp policy. What that is is an insurance policy set up specifically to cover these sorts of work-related injuries, as well as things like lost wages. We at Grossman Law Offices are not fans of the workers’ comp system. It’s typically inadequate to the needs of the employees. It was set up by employers and typically benefits employers. Right now, it doesn’t seem like the exact cause of the accident is known. Like I said, it sounds like an on-the-job accident, but it’s possible that if there were some sort of mechanical defect, that a third party may be involved. The authorities will need to complete their investigation before anyone can know for sure.
