Update: Johnny Powell has apparently died from his injuries, the Denton Record Chronicle said, last month on September 12th at a hospital in Plano.
Sanger, TX — A car went off the road and struck a tree on Sunday, August 27, 2014, in Sanger, Texas. The accident left two people dead and two injured. The deceased have been identified as Steven Wilkerson and Paul Martie.
Reports say that the accident took place on View Road, near the intersection with Metz Road, around 6:30 in the evening. The Altima carrying the four individuals blew through the intersection before hitting a bump in the road and going airborne. The car hit a utility and rolled before crashing into a tree.
Wilkerson and Martie were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Two other passengers inside the vehicle — identified as Johnny Powell and Jaci Dane — were airlifted to Medical Center of Plano in critical condition. As of yet there’s been no update on their current condition.
Officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety were not able to say what caused the accident. A spokesman for CoServ Electric said that the accident knocked out power to about 30 households.
