Guillermo Jones Injured in Dump Truck Rollover Accident on Highway 152 in Los Banos, California

Los Banos, CA — Guillermo Jones has been identified as the driver who was injured in a dump truck rollover accident in Los Banos, California, on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. The accident took place on Highway 152, near the San Luis Street exit, around one in the afternoon.

According to local reports, Jones lost control of the truck and turned over in the median, spilling a load of scrap metal. He sustained serious injuries and was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Police are still investigating the accident and reports say that it may have been caused by a blown out tire. Teams were called out to the scene to clean up the scrap metal and some diesel fuel that had begun to leak.

Tire blow outs are very serious problems. If the authorities complete their investigation and find that the tire was the cause of the accident, there are a few different directions things could go in. If the truck drove over something or hit something on the road and that caused the blow out, the accident is probably going to be covered under the company’s workers’ comp policy. That is, the company will have an insurance policy specifically for these sorts of accidents. If the tire was defective, they’re going to need to start looking at whoever was responsible for the truck’s maintenance. If that turns out to be the case, the driver would be able to bring a claim against them.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
