18 injured in Mississippi River boat collision

18 prison employees were injured in a boating accident on April 14, 2008 on the Mississippi River near New Orleans. The prison employees were being transported across river by barge as recent flooding has rendered their typical ferri transporter unsafe. All of the injured were taken to the prison hospital for treatment and two of the 18 were flown to a hospital for treatment of more severe injuries.The coast guard is still investigating the exact cause of the accident.
