TULSA, OK — A collision between a car and a dump truck sent two people to the hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Wednesday, August 27th, 2014, according to Fox 23 Online.

Oklahoma State Police say that two people were hurt when a dump truck swerved to avoid another dump truck when it was struck by a Honda passenger car while driving on Highway 266 on Wednesday afternoon.

Scene of the Accident

Two people in the Honda were taken by EMS personnel to a nearby hospital where they remained in critical condition. The driver of the dump truck was immediately uninjured.

Representatives from both local and state offices are still determining the cause of the accident.

Commentary:

One fact reported about this accident has grabbed my attention. The fact that one of the dump trucks was avoiding a collision with another when it supposedly swerved into the path of the victim’s vehicle. If this is true, I’d be willing to go out on a limb and say that the offending dump truck driver failed to use his turn signal if it was a snap-decision to swerve. If the driver of the dump truck failed to check his mirrors or engage his turns signal was not engaged, the dump truck company could be liable for this accident.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
