UPDATE: Mark Candelario Killed in Tractor-Trailer Accident in Lodi, New Jersey

LODI, NJ — A motorcyclist has died following an accident with a tractor-trailer in Lodi, New Jersey on Saturday, July 19th, 2014, according to the news report from The Fort Mill Times.

Police think that they have reason to believe 41-year-old Mark Candelario was killed when the motorcycle he was driving and a tractor-trailer collided for reasons currently under investigation while driving on Route 80 around 1:00 Saturday morning.

Scene of the Accident

Paramedics pronounced Mark Candelario dead on the scene a short time after the accident. The driver of the other vehicle was immediately unhurt in the crash.

The investigation into the accident is currently being handled by officials from the New Jersey State Police.

Commentary:

The news report indicates that the victim may have failed to stay in one lane, but I always advise taking these kind of reports with a big grain of salt. Why? Because the only survivor of the crash’s employment rests on his story, and the role he played in the accident. If the truck driver made a mistake that resulted in a fatal accident, I doubt he would be forthcoming with this information, which is why an investigation of your own could tell us more about the accident, and where the fault really lies.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.

  1. I was just behind this accident and he just barely missed hitting our mirror. Candelario was zooming past at a minimum of 120 mph. Him and his friend zoomed past at about the same speed, but when Candelario crashed, his friend seemed not to notice or maybe just did not want to be involved. About 200 meters in front of me I saw the rear wheel of Candelario’s motorcycle shake vigorously before smashing into the tractor trailer and landing plain on his face into the concrete. I dont know where his motorcycle went but it was no where on the road. We stopped next to him to see if he was still alive, but he didnt appear to be and it didnt help that he got run over by 2 more cars which did not know of his presence which consequently stripped off the majority of his clothes. The immediate area was getting chaotic and dangerous so we left the scene but rest in peace to Candelario and my condolences to his family.
