BOISE, ID — A two-vehicle crash involving a dump truck left one man dead in Boise, Idaho on Thursday, July 17th, 2014, according to the news report from KTVB.
Police working with local accident investigation teams think that 70-year-old Jay Murphy was killed when the vehicle he was driving is believed to have collided with a dump truck while driving on highway 55.
Scene of the Accident
Jay Murphy was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency responders. The driver of the dump truck was identified in the news as Michael Conaway, who was immediately unhurt after the crash.
The investigation into the accident is currently being handled by representatives from the Idaho State Police.
Commentary:
In this accident, things are going to depend heavily on the condition of the victims vehicle. Yes, there is a good chance that the victim may be faulted for this incident, but there is also a chance that this could have been caused by a steering or brake failure. We all hear of automotive recalls, but these don’t happen until after a number of connected accidents, and this could be one such accident, but nobody would know until the wreckage has been examined.
