TEXARKANA, TX — A tractor-trailer driver was taken to the hospital following an accident that happened in Texarkana, Texas on Thursday, July 17th, 2014, according to the news report from KSLA.
Police think that one truck driver was hurt when the tractor-trailer they were driving swerved to avoid a vehicle that turned into its path while driving on Interstate 30. The truck left the road and collided with a nearby bridge pillar.
Scene of the Accident
The driver was taken by EMS to a nearby hospital where he was being treated for minor injuries. No other injuries were reported in the accident.
The Texas Highway Patrol is assisting local police with the crash investigation.
Commentary:
In this case, the driver of the car could bear some liability in the accident. In this case, there could be a policy called under-insured motorist coverage that comes into play. UIM coverage steps in when the damages of an accident exceed the policy limits of the offending driver, which comes especially in handy when tractor-trailers, transit buses, exotic cars, or buildings are destroyed in an accident. But again, it all depends on the final facts of the investigation.
