WASHINGTON COUNTY, OK – A driver is dead and a passenger remains in the hospital following a tractor-trailer accident that happened in Washington County, Oklahoma on Saturday, July 20th, 2014, according to the news article released by KRMG.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol officers think that Jared Clark was killed when the vehicle he was driving is believed to have collided with a tractor-trailer that pulled out in front of them while driving on Highway US 75 on Saturday morning.
Scene of the Accident
Jared Clark was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders when they arrived. A passenger in the vehicle was identified in the report as Jordan Smith, who was taken by EMS personnel to a nearby hospital where he remained in critical condition following the accident.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not immediately hurt in the collision.
The Oklahoma State Police hope to release more information pertaining to the accident at a later date.
Commentary:
With this collision, I’d be most interested in having a look at the layout of the road, and the complexities of the turn the truck driver was making at the time of the accident. If the truck driver did not have the right-of-way at the time of the accident, there is always a possibility that the trucking company could be faulted for the accident. On the other hand, if the vicitm was speeding at the time of the collision, the fault could rest on their shoulders, or possibly split with the truck driver depending on the facts in the accident. Either way, this accident is surely worth a second look.
