BENTON COUNTY, IA — A tractor-trailer collision involved three vehicles and left one driver dead in Benton County, Iowa on Monday, July 7th, 2014,a according to the news report released by The Des Moines Register.
Iowa State Police say that they believe Mark Skyles was killed when the car he was driving and a tractor-trailer collided head on for reasons currently under investigation before Skyles car was pushed into another vehicle while driving on Highway 21.

Mark Skyles was pronounced dead after the accident. The driver of the tractor-trailer was identified in the report as Michael Brawner, who was taken by paramedics to nearby St. Luke’s Hospital where an update on his status was unavailable.
The Iowa State Police are helping Benton County officials investigate the accident at this time.
Commentary:
In this situation, if the news report is accurate and the victim was the vehicle that did the crossing over of the median, this could be a situation where UIM, or under-insured motorist coverage becomes a factor. UIM is a policy engineered to cover the costs of an accident should you be hit by somebody whose uninsured, or somebody whose policy does not cover the total cost of the damages. These policies come especially in handy with large commercial vehicles, when a car destroys a building, or when medical expenses skyrocket.
