Amarillo, TX — A teenager was injured last Wednesday (July 2, 2014) after she jumped from a moving car along Lindberg Avenue. Police said that Florinda Lindberg, 19, was injured after she fell or jumped from 21-year old Jabarel Mills’ Nissan XTerra.
Mills was driving along Lindberg Ave that morning at about 4:00 a.m. when he neared N. Wilson Street, which is where Marez jumped or fell out of his Nissan.
Florinda Marez as taken to a hospital, but her condition hasn’t been updated yet. So far, it’s not really clear what caused her to jump or fall out of Mills’ car, but police said that the APD Traffic Investigation Squad is working on this.

Commentary:
The only question I have here is whether alcohol or something else was involved. People can jump out of vehicles for any old reason, I suppose, but the majority of them do it because they’re under the influence of alcohol. If alcohol was a factor, then I think the police should do a proper investigation and trace back where the alcohol came from. Of course, that’s sort of getting away from the police’s area of expertise. The police investigation is primarily to see if anyone needs to be charged with some kind of offense or citation. If someone else bought alcohol for this young woman, then they might face some charges. However, what I’m talking about is liability – which is a bit different. See, the police might charge someone for wrongdoing, but they don’t force that person to pay their victim back or make them whole again. That kind of thing is determined in civil court.
