Sources in Decatur TX stated that a three-car accident along FM 51 left one man injured on July 30 2012. According to reports 28-year old John Powell was injured when a pickup truck crashed into the rear of his car causing it to strike another truck. Police said that the accident happened about one mile north of Decatur at about 8:00 a.m.

Police said that 20-year old Marilyn Gutierrez reportedly struck Powells car from behind while Powell was stopped waiting for a vehicle to turn. The collision sent Powells car into 51-year old James Lairds car but neither Laird nor Gutierrez were injured in the accident. Powell was taken to a hospital for nonfatal injuries.
