IOWA COUNTY, WI — A collision between an SUV and a tractor-trailer left one person dead and another hospitalized in Iowa County, Wisconsin on Wednesday, June 25th, 2014, according to the report from The Madison Host.
Authorities believe that 19-year-old Karen Martinez was injured when the SUV in which she was a passenger collided with a tractor-trailer while attempting a U-turn on Highway 23 around 11:30 Wednesday Morning.

Karen Martinez was taken by EMS personnel to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 19-year-old Adam Villanueva was killed in the crash.
The Wisconsin State Police is currently investigating the fatal incident.
Commentary:
In the case of the passenger in this accident, the situation is really going to depend on which one of the vehicles, the SUV or the tractor-trailer made the mistake in the facts. If the driver of the car made the mistake and the turn was not legal for instance, the passenger would surely have some claim against the driver’s insurance. On the other hand, if the truck driver was speeding, or not paying attention to the road at the time of the accident, the claim would fall against the trucking company, but either way, passengers usually have the strongest type of claim in accidents.
