Local news reports in Odessa TX stated that seven people were injured on July 12 2012 in a three-vehicle wreck along Highway 385. According to reports a red and white pickup truck collided when the white truck drove out in front of the red truck. 31-year old Maria Melendez was identified as the driver of the red truck which was northbound on Highway 385 when the white truck pulled out from Sheppard Street.

After the first collision an 18-wheeler struck the two pickup trucks causing a fire to ignite in the white truck. Melendez and her passengers 9-year old Jaime 13-year old Brianne and 3-year old Azmien Bustante were all injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. The other three people were not named by authorities but they are expected to update as necessary.
