Local news reports in San Antonio TX stated that a rear-end accident along Broadway Street escalated into a more serious accident when a third vehicle struck a man who stepped out of his vehicle. Police said that 26-year old Matthew Garcia sustained critical leg injuries and was taken to a hospital after the accident which may have also involved a driver under the influence of alcohol. The accident happened at about 3:00 in the morning on June 30 2012.

According to police reports Garcia was southbound on Broadway and was in the turn lane for Natalen Street when an unknown vehicle struck him from behind and sped away. As Garcia stepped out of his car to inspect the damage police said a Hyundai crashed into him pinning Garcia against his car. The driver of the Hyundai was later identified as 60-year old Emile Raymond Deroo and charged with intoxication assault as authorities believed him to be under the influence of alcohol.
