OPELIKA, AL — One man has died after a dump truck accident that happened in Opelika, Alabama on Monday, June 2nd, 2014, according to a news article from The Montgomery Adviser.
Authorities have said that they have reason to believe that 60-year-old Matthew Jacob was killed when the dump truck he was driving left the road and overturned for reasons currently under investigation while driving on Interstate 85 just before 5:00 in the afternoon Monday.

Matthew Jacob was taken by EMS personnel to Columbus Regional Medical Center where he died a few hours after his arrival.
The investigation into the crash is being handled by representatives from The Alabama State Police.
Commentary:
This is an accident where the wrecked truck should be thoroughly examined. What would we hope to find? Any vehicle that I’ve inspected in a single-vehicle accident has never once been completely free of mechanical problems. Whether or not that mechanical problem was in any way related to the accident may be a different story, but nobody can know for sure without getting their hands on the evidence.
