Commentary
Fortunately, no one was killed in this accident. Unfortunately, we still don’t have answers as to what caused it. Witnesses at the scene said that it looked like the driver of the semi didn’t even step on his brakes before the collision. I’d like to give him the benefit of the doubt. It’s possible that there’s a reason for why things happened the way they did. However, as things stand now, it seems that the truck driver is at fault for the accident. If that’s the case, the victim’s are likely going to have a fight on their hands, as the trucking company is only going to be concerned with protecting its bottom line, regardless of who was at fault. It may be a cynical viewpoint to take, but it’s something I’ve over and over again in similar cases I’ve been involved with.
