Two Injured in Possible DUI Accident in Fort Worth, TX, on Interstate 20

Fort Worth, TX — Only minor injuries were reported in a collision between a Ford Mustang and an 18-wheeler in Fort Worth, Texas, on Thursday. The accident took place on Interstate 20 near the Campus Drive exit, around eight in the evening.

According to reports, a Ford Mustang swerved suddenly from the outside lane to the middle inside lane of the highway, clipping a passing 18-wheeler. The collision forced the 18-wheeler’s trailer across the median, and into the eastbound lane of traffic.

The drivers of both the Mustang and the 18-wheeler sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

Police say that alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.

There’s really no way to make this any more plain: Don’t drink and drive. It’s bad for you. It’s bad for the people around you. Luckily, this accident was nearly as bad as it could have been. If the driver of the Mustang is found to have been drunk at the time, then he will be liable for the accident, and needs to be held accountable. Depending on the amount of damage done, it may be worth looking into whether or not the trucking company has a UIM policy. UIM stands for uninsured motorist, and a UIM policy is for people who have been in an accident where the at-fault party doesn’t have the insurance to cover all the damage. The premium you’re paying basically goes toward making up the difference. In an accident like this, it’s definitely worth looking into.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
