Commentary:
You may be wondering what would happen in a situation where a commuter vehicle happens to total a large commercial vehicle, a building, storefront, or rare, exotic car. In this case, a policy of ‘underinsured motorist coverage’ or ‘UIM’ steps in. Lets say a policy limit caps out at $50,000, but the damages of an accident total up to $200,000, almost quadruple the policy. UIM coverage would then step in and bridge the gap between the policy, and the totals of the actual damages.
