Commentary:
The news article really doesn’t give us many details to work with, but it’s really not too hard to imagine that one of these vehicles crossed into the lanes of oncoming traffic. If the truck turns out to be the one that crossed over, finding out why may be easier than some people think. The technology in these trucks have grown by leaps and bounds in recent years. In one particular instance, a trucking company had mounted driver-facing cameras and they captured a driver looking at girls on his phone as he sailed into the back of a sedan, killing the driver. We would have never known had we not looked. Additionally, trucks are outfitted with GPS, and other black-box like devices that allow us to have a very clear picture of what may have been happening in the truck at the time of the accident.
