UPDATE: Ryan Graham Injured in Box Truck Accident in Haddam, Connecticut

HADDAM, CT — Two men were hurt in a serious collision in Haddam, Connecticut on Monday, April 28th, 2014, according to a report from The New Hampshire Register.

Police have said that they believe Ryan Graham was hurt when the vehicle he was driving crossed the median and collided with a box-truck head-on while driving on Highway 82 around 3:00 Monday morning.

Scene of the Accident

Ryan Graham was seriously burned after the car erupted into flames after the accident and was taken to a nearby hospital after the accident.

The driver of the truck was identified in the report as Slako Duric, who was also hurt in the accident.

The investigation is currently ongoing.

Commentary:

The fact that the passenger car erupted in flames after the accident should open up a plethora of questions for victims and investigators alike. Cars are engineered with crash-survivability in mind, and when a fire breaks out in a car after a crash, something has more than likely gone wrong. Luckily accident investigators can pinpoint the source of a fire to determine what may have caused it. If a defect in either the vehicle’s design itself, or a faulty part within the vehicle caused the fire, the manufacturer of the car or the part that failed to do its job could be liable, but the only way to know if something like this happened is if the evidence is still around, and if a trained eye takes a look at it.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
