Commentary:
Any time a vehicle is thought to have crossed over into oncoming traffic, I get the nagging sensation that the driver of the tractor-trailer may have been distracted. Unfortunately, truck drivers are susceptible to the same kinds of distractions that typical drivers fall prey to all the time. Things like the radio, cell phones, GPS, eating behind the wheel, and exhaustion can all play a factor in these kinds of accidents. Luckily most of the things that can distract a driver can also be used to prove the driver was distracted during the accident. Things like GPS and phones can be examined to see if they were in use of at the time, and some of these trucks even have cameras that face the driver at all times. The thing that matters the most in cases like this is time, because as time goes on, the less evidence there will be.
