UPDATE: Juneho Yum Killed in Alleged Drunk Driving Accident in Plano, Texas

PLANO, TX — A two-vehicle accident claimed the life of one driver in Plano, Texas on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014, according to a news report from The Dallas Morning News.

Investigators believe that 25-year-ld Juneho Yum was killed when the vehicle they were driving was struck by an SUV while driving through the intersection of Legacy Drive and Hedgecoxe at around 1:00 Wednesday morning.

Commentary:

Juneho Yum was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency response personnel when they arrived. The driver of the SUV was identified in the report as 30-year-old Ryan Forbes, who currently faces drunk driving related charges in connection with the accident.

Officials from the Collin County Police Department are currently investigating the accident.

Commentary:

People seem to have it in their minds that a typical car accident is handled in the same way that alcohol related accidents are and this is simply untrue. In the State of Texas, we have lawmakers that set forth liquor liability laws that hold bars, nightclubs, restaurants and liquor stores to a high standard when selling or serving alcohol. This means if a bar is found to have over-served a person who then causes an accident that hurts or kills another person, that bar can be held liable for the negligent provision of alcohol if liquor is found to be the cause of the accident. Only when bars are held liable for drunk drivers will bars begin to see their customers as potential liabilities.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
