Commentary:
Any time I see a hit-and-run accident, I see one of two things happen. Either the driver of the offending vehicle had a sudden, panicked fight-or-flight response and drove away in a frenzied state, or I see a driver with something to hide. Either he was drunk, on drugs, or involved in other criminal activity whose consequences are greater to them than the cost of the accident to anybody involved. In my experience, the majority of hit-and-runners tend to have more to hide than a simple accident, and after finding the driver, finding out why they ran would be the next order of business for investigators.
