WHITEHOUSE, TX — A single-vehicle accident claimed the life of one woman in Whitehouse, Texas on Monday, April 14th, 2014, according to a news report from KLTV.
Officials have said that they have reason to believe Amber King was killed when the Ford Mustang she was driving drifted off the road and crashed into a tree while driving on CR 2177.

Emergency medical technicians pronounced Amber King dead on the scene when they arrived. She is thought to be alone in the vehicle when it crashed, and no other injuries were detailed in the news report.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary:
Many people have the idea that all single-vehicle accidents are solely the fault of the driver, when this is simply not always the case. Cars experience mechanical failures all the time, and there is always the distinct possibility that is was caused this accident as well. We always hear about vehicle recalls in the news, unfortunately accidents have to happen before a manufacturer will issue a recall. I’m not saying that is what has happened here, but people need to be aware that investigations need to be finished before we jump to conclusions based on a news article.
