Commentary:
While authorities are working to determine the cause of the accident, tractor-trailers with triple trailers in tow are some of the most difficult to drive, and more importantly, some of the most difficult to stop. The mechanisms in the braking systems need to be much stronger, and much more reliable than that on consumer cars or even other tractor-trailers. The problems tend to happen when the parts fail, just as they do on regular vehicles, only tractor-trailers are exposed to far greater wear-and-tear over time. If these trucks happen to go without maintenance, repair, or replacement for whatever reason, they can and often do turn into serious hazards on the road. These trucks are sometimes neglected out of sheer forgetfulness, and other times these mechanical issues are known and intentionally ignored. Either way, the trucking company needs to held accountable.
