Commentary:
The details of this accident are fuzzy, but if the news report is accurate in its account, the victims may have some questions about the trajectory of what they may go through. If the driver of the shuttle bus is found to be at fault, I would be interested to know a few details. Given the late hour of the accident, could drugs or alcohol be a factor? Now I’m not at all implying that this is how the accident happened, but commercial drivers are just as susceptible to drunk driving accidents, if this turns out to be the case, the trucking company will do all it can to distance themselves from the driver, saying that what they were doing was so outside the realm of their employment that they shouldn’t be held accountable for the accident, but the trucking company is responsible for the hiring and training of roadworthy employees. If this driver had a history, and they hired him at-risk at a lower salary, the company should be held liable if the facts line up correctly.
