Bumbleride Indie and Indie Twin Strollers Recalled Due to Fall Hazard
According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, Bumbleride Inc. is set to recall 28,000 Bumbleride Indie & Indie Twin Strollers due to a fall hazard. The products in question possess a front wheel that can break at the axle, causing the stroller to tip, potentially leading to a fall. The company notes 36 separate instances of the front wheel breaking, with two resulting in the stroller tipping over and causing injury. The company can be contacted at (800) 530-3930.
Commentary
Though 28,000 units is not that sizable of a recall, I am more concerned with the report that this defect has led to injuries. My readers should be cautioned if they have purchased one of the strollers and have the recall taken care of on the front wheel. These recalls are issued when a company learns of a defect within their product line. This is the company's way of serving notice on the defective products as well as mitigating liability by limiting the amount on the market. If an injury were to occur from the use of a defective stroller, those injuries must be vigorously tied to the defect in question, as this will be the most contentious point of a manufacturing claim.
