Mazda Set to Recall Over 52,000 Tribute Crossovers Due to Possible Brake Fluid Leak
According to the manufacturer, Mazda is set to recall over 52,000 Tribute crossover vehicles. The cars can potentially leak braking fluid onto the ABS wiring harness connector, possibly corroding and or leading to fire. Until the recall is completed, Mazda is recommending that owners park their vehicle outdoors as ventilation is better and lower risk to home damage. Mazda can be contacted at 1-248-393-5990.
Commentary Rough 52,000 vehicles is a decently sized manufacturer recall. The argument could be made for strict liability against Mazda, as presumably the vehicles were built with the defect in question. Recalls are then issued as a way for a manufacturer to give notice and mitigate liability. Even the note to park vehicles outdoors is an effort to reduce this responsibility for the accident. Typically, most of these recalls will not result in legal action, as the recall will address the issue quick enough for the prevention of injury. If that proves not to be the case here, there are potential civil remedies available.
